MTSF wound up its 29th programs with a grand prize presentation at Kuala Lumpur on 22 November 2022. The 2022 MTSF Prize Presentation Ceremony was graced by His Excellency Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, with the attendance of Mr. Hideki Hirabayashi, Senior Vice President of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan, who represented YBhg. Dato’ (Dr.) Akihiro Nikkaku, the Honorary Chairman of MTSF and the President of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan. Present to welcome the many invited guests were YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman, MTSF Chairman and YBhg. Dato’ Teh Hock Soon, Chief Representative of Toray Group (Malaysia) cum Managing Director of MTSF.
In the speech of His Excellency, Mr. Takahashi complimented Toray Group’s noble efforts in promoting science and technology development in Malaysia. As this year 2022 also marked the 40th year Malaysia launched its Look East Policy (LEP) in 1982, the 40th Anniversary celebration provides another opportunity to encourage more collaborations between the two countries Malaysia and Japan. In recognizing the success stories of MTSF as a premier charitable science foundation in Malaysia since 1993, the year 2022 MTSF Prize Presentation Ceremony was also designated as an commemorate event of the 40th Anniversary Celebration.
At the prize presentation ceremony, a total of 30 Malaysians, comprising 2 scientists, 13 young researchers and 15 dedicated secondary school teachers received the respective science and technology awards and research grants. Going forward, MTSF anticipates greater responses to its coming 2023 Programs, which will be launched online via its MTSF Website in January 2023.
The ceremony concluded with group photo taking sessions and a sumptuous luncheon. It was truly a memorable ceremony for recipients and guests present.
