My warmest
greetings to all of you on the occasion of the 16th Prize
Presentation Ceremony of Mayalsia Toray Science Foundation
(MTSF).
MTSF has
successfully completed its 16th annual programme since its
inception in 1993. I deeply appreciate the Chairman, Board of
Directors, the Selection and the Examination Committees, the
relevant Malaysian government agencies, the secretariat of MTSF
and all those who have contributed to MTSF in one way or another.
I also take this
opportunity to congratulate the recipients on their brilliant
endeavours. It is our fervent hope that they will forge to
greater heights in their chosen careers and improve further in
their respective fields.
The Malaysian
Government's inspiration and initiative in emphasizing science
and science education as the basis for attaining developed
nation status are commendable indeed. Apart from research and
development, education plays a major role in creating and
nurturing a pool of knowledgeable and innovative members of
society. Thus, MTSF's programmes are geared towards rewarding
outstanding Malaysian scientists, encouraging basic research in
science and technology, and recognizing the creative and
effective efforts of science teachers as well.
We, at Toray, are
really proud that MTSF's noble objectives of advancing science
and technology, through the various awards and research grants,
complement Malaysia's nation building agenda. Toray and its
Malaysian based subsidiaries, the Toray Malaysia Group, are
committed to ensuring the continuing success of MTSF.
Tan Sri Dato’
(Dr) Katsunosuke Maeda
