On 25th April 2017, MTSF successfully organised yet another roadshow at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang to further publicise its two programs “Science & Technology Award and Science & Technology Research Grant.
The roadshow was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Bin Jantan, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), with the presence of some 60 USM academicians, young researchers and postgraduate students.
Present to brief the participants were MTSF Chairman, Academician Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman and Committee members Academician Dr. Yong Hoi Sen and Dato’ Dr. R. Ratnalingam. Later, Prof. Dr. Aileen Tan, the Director of Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies and a past recipient of MTSF Science & Technology Award Winner (2015) and MTSF research grant (1999) shared her experiences and joy of winnings. The Q&A session held thereafter, was very fruitful and lively as many questions put forward were satisfactorily answered. The roadshow has truly benefitted the participants and MTSF look forward to more active participation from USM in the coming years.
Later, MTSF delegation paid a visit to the Oyster Hatchery Farm at Balik Pulau, made possible through the first research grant extended by MTSF to Prof. Dr. Aileen for her pilot research study. The farm operator, Mr. Alan Wong conducted a guided tour of the various facilities and technology available. MTSF is proud to play its noble roles in promoting science and technology in Malaysia.
