Recently on 25th November 2019, MTSF hosted its 26th Prize Presentation at Kuala Lumpur, under the patronage of the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) who was represented at the Ceremony by its Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan. Present at the auspicious occasion included Mr. Hiroshi Oka, the new Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr. Ryo Murayama, Executive Vice President of Toray Industries Inc., Japan, Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman, MTSF Chairman and Mr. HS Teh, Chief Representative of Toray Group (Malaysia) cum Managing Director of MTSF.


At the luncheon attended by the Minister, Puan Yeo Bee Yin emphasizes that as Malaysia advances into the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), innovation would be the key in the people’s ability to find solutions to such challenges that were economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.


On behalf of MESTECC, she complimented Toray Group for the noble objectives in of establishing MTSF in 1993. Over the last 26 years, MTSF has expended some RM15.8 million in funding 303 basic research projects and given 51 awards for outstanding scientific achievements, and 417 for creative and innovative teaching methods.


At the Ceremony, a total of 27 Malaysians, comprising 1 scientist, 11 young researchers and 15 dedicated secondary school teachers received the respective Awards and Grants. At the same function, the MTSF Portal was officially launched to facilitate MTSF’s board members, committee members and winners/grantees to share, interact and discuss related issues and topics of scientific interests. Going forward, MTSF anticipates greater responses to its coming 2020 Programs, via online application at the MTSF Website.
