Virtual Prize Presentation Ceremony Year 2020 (27th) & 2021 (28th) Programs

Amidst the prolonging Covid-19 pandemic and restriction orders, Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) 2021 Prize Presentation Ceremony, in respect of the 27th (2020) & 28th (2021) programs were virtually conducted on the 23rd November 2021.


Graced by Dato' Sri Dr. Adham Baba, the Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation and Mr. Kaname Araki, Charges di'affaires ad interim, Embassy of Japan in Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur, the ceremony was well attended by some 160 participants. President of Toray Industries Inc., Japan Dato' (Dr.) Akihiro Nikkaku also extended his well wishes online. Online to welcome the guests were Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman, MTSF Chairman and Dato' Teh Hock Soon, Chief Representative of Toray Group (Malaysia) cum Managing Director of MTSF.


Dato' Sri Dr. Adham Baba in his pre-recorded speech complimented Toray Group for the excellent CSR initiatives in promoting and advancing science, technology and innovation (STI) for the past 28 years, via the establishment of MTSF in 1993. To date, MTSF has expended some RM16.8 million in funding 329 basic research projects and given 55 awards for outstanding scientific achievements, and 446 for creative and innovative teaching methods.


At the joint ceremony, a total of 59 Malaysians, comprising 4 scientists, 26 young researchers and 29 dedicated school educators received the respective Awards and Grants in respect of the years 2020 and 2021. MTSF looks forward to receiving greater response to its coming 2022 Programs.


At the conclusion of the ceremony, all attendees were invited for a group photo taking session to commemorate the occasion, held virtually for the first time. It was truly a memorable ceremony for all.
