Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) successfully organised its 32nd Prize Presentation Ceremony on 11 November 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the kind presence of Yang Berusaha Puan Norsham binti Abdul Latip, Deputy Secretary General (Technology Development) of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) who represented the Minister of MOSTI.


Hosted jointly by MTSF Chairman Academician Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman and MTSF Managing Director Mr. Teh Hock Soon, the ceremony was well attended by approximately 120 guests, including Mr. Daisuke Nihei, Minister, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia and Dato’ (Dr.) Akihiro Nikkaku, Honorary Chairman of MTSF and Chairman of Toray Industries, Inc., Japan.


During the ceremony, both Puan Norsham and Mr. Nihei commended MTSF for its significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology in Malaysia over the past three decades. On behalf of Toray, Dato’ Nikkaku expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian government, especially MOSTI and the Ministry of Education, for their continuous cooperation and support. He also highlighted how technologies of Toray, who will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next year have brought new value to people’s lives, and stressed that the advancement of science and technology will be more crucial than ever in realising sustainable growth. He reaffirmed Toray’s commitments to supporting the development of science and technology in Malaysia.


At the Ceremony, a total sum of RM307,000 in cash awards and research grants were awarded to the 28 recipients, comprising 2 Malaysian scientists, 11 young researchers and 15 science teachers. At the end of the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the exhibits showcasing the winners’ achievements and research projects before adjourning to lunch.
